Launched 15 May 2004

It is almost with regret and yet with a certain amount of excitement that anyone who pursues a hobby with passion and enthusiasm slowly comes to realise that everything costs money, money does not grow on trees and that you can't keep putting in without eventually getting something out!

Antique Bottles.co.za will be 2 years old in July 2004 and to celebrate our birthday the date will also mark the launch of our new selling section.

It will take time to reach it's full potential but initially the objective will be to create an awareness of and interest in the website through the incredible power of e-bay.

Bottles will be placed on e-bay with a single simple picture but with a comprehensive description and the interested prospective buyer will visit the website to better view the wares.

The website will maintain a record of all items both sold and currently on sale, making it a) interest to browse through some of the worlds top performing bottles and b) a reliable guide to pricing for the future prospective buyer or seller.

The site will eventually offer items, grouping or even whole collections for sale but for not a few really choice items will "test the water".

WE WOULD LIKE TO STATE CATEGORICALLY THAT OUR SALES/AUCTION SECTION IS NOT INTENDED TO EMMULATE OR COMPETE WITH THE TRADITIONAL AUCTION..NOTHING can match the electric atmosphere of a B.B.R. auction. Ask me I was there (on 9 July 2000) when a sealed shaft & globe (T.E.B.) lot No. 140 fetched a staggering £18,000 for its "finder"who scratched it out of the roots of an upturned oak tree.

Will the "SALES" section of Antique Bottles.co.za ever see the likes of this? Only time will tell..

If you have any suggestions on how we can improve the selling section, please mail us at sellbottles@antiquebottles.co.za
